Terms & Conditions

Welcome to emporium. at Rye (“we,” “our,” “us”). These Terms & Conditions govern your use of our website and the purchase of antique and vintage furniture and homeware sold through www.emporium-rye.com (the “Website”).

By accessing or purchasing from our Website, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. Nature of Goods

We sell antique and vintage items, many of which are pre-owned and may show signs of age, wear, or imperfections. These characteristics form part of their uniqueness and value.

Buyers agree that:

  • Items are sold as described and may not be in perfect or new condition.

  • All descriptions, dimensions, and photos are provided in good faith and represent each item as accurately as possible.

2. Pricing & Payment

  • All prices are listed in GBP (£) and include VAT where applicable.

  • We accept payment through secure third-party payment providers (e.g., credit/debit cards, PayPal).

  • Payment must be received in full at the time of purchase.

We reserve the right to update prices at any time before purchase.

3. Orders & Availability

All orders are subject to availability. Items in your cart are not reserved until checkout is completed.
Due to the unique nature of antiques, once an item has been sold, it cannot be exactly reproduced or reordered.

We reserve the right to cancel an order in the event of:

  • Listing errors

  • Fraudulent activity

  • Item damage prior to dispatch

If an order is cancelled, a full refund will be issued.

4. Delivery & Collection

We offer delivery within the UK. Shipping costs are calculated at checkout or quoted separately for larger items.

  • Delivery times are estimates and may vary due to courier services.

  • Customers are responsible for ensuring correct delivery details at checkout.

  • For large items, customers may arrange their own courier or choose in-store collection if available.

  • It is the customers responsibility to ensure that larger items can be delivered through doors in your premises.  Should they not fit and the courier has to return to us, the full costs will be due from the customer.

5. Returns & Refunds

Due to the nature of antique items, we do not accept returns unless the item is damaged, faulty, or significantly not as described.

To request a return, you must notify us within 14 days of receiving the item.

For full details, see our Return & Refund Policy below.

6. Intellectual Property

All text, photos, logos, product descriptions, and content on this Website are the intellectual property of emporium. at Rye and may not be copied, reproduced, or used without written consent.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by UK law:

  • We are not liable for accidental damage or misuse of items after delivery.

  • We are not responsible for indirect or consequential losses.

  • Our liability shall not exceed the purchase price of the item.

This does not limit liability where unlawful, including death or personal injury caused by negligence.

8. Governing Law

These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

What to include in the T&C document

Generally speaking, T&C often address these types of issues: Who is allowed to use the website; the possible payment methods; a declaration that the website owner may change his or her offering in the future; the types of warranties the website owner gives his or her customers; a reference to issues of intellectual property or copyrights, where relevant; the website owner’s right to suspend or cancel a member’s account; and much, much more.
