Shipping Policy

This Shipping Policy explains how orders from emporium. at Rye (“we”, “our”, “us”) are processed, shipped, and delivered.

1. Delivery Areas

We currently offer delivery within the United Kingdom.
For international shipping requests, please contact us prior to purchase. Availability will depend on courier arrangements and item type.

2. Delivery Methods

Because many items are antique or vintage, sizes and weights vary. We use one or more of the following delivery methods:

Specialist Furniture Courier.                             Large/fragile furniture or heavy antiques

Customer Collection                                       By appointment, from Rye, East Sussex

We may recommend the safest and most appropriate shipping method based on the item purchased.

3. Shipping Costs

  • Shipping costs are calculated at checkout or quoted individually for larger items.

  • If a custom delivery quote is needed, you will receive confirmation before payment is processed.

  • If you choose to arrange your own courier, emporium. at Rye is not responsible for loss/damage once the item leaves our premises.

4. Delivery Time Estimates

Delivery times vary due to the nature and handling needs of antique items. Estimated timeframes:

Specialist Furniture Courier                             7–21 working days (scheduled delivery)

Customer Collection                                      Flexible by appointment

Delays may occur due to courier availability, weather, or external factors beyond our control.

5. Special Handling

Large or fragile items may:

  • Require two-person delivery

  • Require access through wide doors or clear pathways

  • Need scheduled delivery times

Customers are responsible for ensuring safe access at the delivery address.
If delivery is attempted but impossible due to access restrictions, a re-delivery fee may apply.

6. Undeliverable Items

Orders may be cancelled or delayed if:

  • The address is incorrect or incomplete

  • Delivery access is unsafe or too restricted

  • Payment cannot be verified

If an order is cancelled for reasons outside our control, shipping costs may not be refundable.

7. Delivery Inspection

We advise customers to inspect goods upon delivery.
If an item arrives damaged or significantly not as described:

  • Report the issue within 48 hours of delivery

  • Provide photographs of the item and packaging

Damage caused after delivery is the responsibility of the customer.

8. Customer Collection

Some items can be collected from our premises in Rye, East Sussex, by appointment only.
If collection is selected:

  • Payment must be made in full prior to collection

  • The customer assumes responsibility for safe transport once collected

9. Liability

We are not liable for:

  • Delays caused by couriers or external factors beyond our control

  • Damage caused by customer mishandling once delivery is complete

  • Loss/damage when a customer arranges their own courier

Our policies do not affect statutory rights under UK consumer law.
